Young Heart Attack - Rock And Awe (2008)

A record from Austin rockers Young Heart Attack that I missed last year. I liked their first "Mouthful of Love" very much. This record is more of this screaming and loud heavy rock in 70's style - the mix of a male (Chris Hodges) and female (Jennifer Stephens) singer makes it good clean fun. A perfect record for aggressive driving, i.e. nothing to listen to when going home from work on a Friday afternoon but perfect when alone on the road on an early summer morning...or just when you want to jump around the house with a big smile on your face! Recommended.

The Raveonettes - In And Out Of Control (2009)

Latest record by the Raveonettes is another great record from the Danish duo. For someone, who always have had Jesus and Mary Chain as one of the greatest bands of all times, this is an excellent surrogate with excellent fuzzy guitars and great pop feeling in the tunes. Not quite as good as "Chain Gang Of Love" from 2003 but still very good and a must if you like this group. I spent six hours in the car with this record last weekend with a happy smile on my face. Recommended!

The Bangkok Five - Who's Gonna Take Us Alive? (2006)

Earlier record by Hollywood rockers. Sleazier and more rockier than their latest record. Quite well-worth giving a chance!

The Bangkok Five - We Love What Kills Us (2008)

I found Hollywood rockers "Bangkok Five" when they started to follow me on Twitter by accident or by excellent marketing - I only have 17 followers... In any case, I checked up their page on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/thebangkokfive) and found them interesting. "We Love That Kills You" is their latest release with catchy glam-rock, especially the title track. The record only contains five tracks but they are doubled since they are performed in both English and Spanish! Interesting group well-worth following up.

Nisse Hellberg - En Modern Man (2009)

New record from the frontman of Wilmer X. Hellberg is keeping to the more bluesy style of his previous solo records. Typical tracks from this artist but unfortunately, I find this too much laidback. There are a couple of good tracks including "Den står där du ställt den" but in some places, it only sounds lack a poor version of the Buckaroos' rockabilly. The record has received good opinions all over the place and it seems that I'm the only one who lacks Wilmer X with their more aggressive and "pushy" guitar driven style. Since I'm always have extremely high expectations on Hellberg I'm disappointed on this record. What a pity!

Louie And The Lovers - The Complete Recordings (2009)

Louie and the Lovers complete recordings one CD including the Doug Sahm produced record "Rise" from 1970. It sounds like a typical record from the groups around Sahm and I have difficulties to understand the cult status around this group. However, the record is quite good and if you're interested in Doug Sahm and the groups around him you should have a look at this.
